OurKidsCode is seeking to recruit experienced, independent facilitators to support our partnership with Meath County Council to onboard 20 schools in County Meath to offer OurKidsCode family workshops during after-school hours in their school.
The OurKidsCode project fosters positive attitudes towards creative coding amongst primary school families.
We begin (phase 1) with engaging taster workshops where parents and children collaborate on projects
combining coding and crafting.
Following successful completion of phase 1, families may apply for our six-week ‘Start a Club’ programme (phase 2). This programme provides workshops and meetings that equip families to establish and run their own OurKidsCode Club at school, outside school hours.
Our experienced facilitators support this process, gradually stepping back to enable families to self-organise and sustain the activity independently.
Successful candidates will work closely with the Trinity College Dublin project team and Meath County Council partners to facilitate safe, inclusive and engaging family workshops in schools.
The role involves school outreach, managing relationships with interested schools and families, and maintaining ongoing communication with the project team.
Suitable candidate will be:
- Excited about crafting and coding
- Able to create a relaxed, fun atmosphere that fosters creativity and exploration while managing time
boundaries - Happy to take ownership of promoting and building relationships with both school staff and families.
- Passionate about parents and children learning together
- Happy being adaptable and finding creative solutions in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable with noisy, busy, informal, child-friendly, family-centred environments
- Supportive of mixed age and ability groups completing projects within the same workshop
- Competent to prepare, organise and evaluate workshops
- Community minded, wishing to support families to start an OurKidsCode club
Essential requirements for this role:
- Train the Trainer Certification
- Willing to undergo Garda vetting
- Comfortable and enthusiastic about non-traditional learning settings, as OurKidsCode uses a non-classroom, exploratory style of pedagogy
